Most people get their wisdom teeth, in their late teens or early twenties. For some people, these wisdom teeth will become impacted, and cause damage to your other teeth. Because they are only partially erupted from the gum line, they can also be very difficult to clean, and can grow bacteria and cause cavities, gum disease, and ultimately tooth infections. For this reason, most dentists recommend removing wisdom teeth when there is not adequate room in the mouth for the wisdom teeth.
